Following the success of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Pull for Sight, ORBIS Ireland teamed up with GECAS and Shannon Aerospace to host the ORBIS Plane Pull for Sight event on Saturday 20 July 2013. The ORBIS Pull for Sight saw teams of 25 pull an aircraft over 12 feet at Shannon Airport. The aircraft - weighing a massive 85 tonnes - is the equivalent of 21 elephants or 42 family cars! A great day out in Shannon and raised a great amount in sponsorship, congrats to everyone involved!
Can Rory find the form to pick up another major, can McDowell roll on from his win at the French Open or can Clarkey defy all the odds and take The Open home again?? Here's hoping for a quality few days of golf and below are some pics I took at the Irish Open.
I spent a week in Ethiopia with ORBIS Ireland last November and captured the Irish fundraisers who took part in the Great Ethiopian Run which is a 10km run at 10,000 feet. I stayed on for a few days to document some of the projects ORBIS have established in Southern Ethiopia and this image was used in their Global Annual Report.
ORBIS is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of blindness in the developing world. It is working to change this and since it was founded in 1982 it has, through the generosity of its donors, worked tirelessly to achieve its goal. Their focus is on teaching and training and since 1982 ORBIS has carried out more than 1,000 sight-saving programs and treated more than 10 million people worldwide.

This was the first ever Socrates National Conference and it was held in the Dublin Convention Centre. Enhancing Patient Care was the focus of the day and both delegates, GP's and practice staff where able to gain new skills and confidence in working with patients in practice. The one day conference was run by IMS Marketing and was packed full of training events, open forums and presentations from guest speakers.
This stunning image of a harbor seal was taken in a kelp forest at Cortes bank near San Diego in California by Kyle McBurnie. It was the overall winning image submitted to the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science's (RSMAS) underwater photography competition in Miami, nice work!
